Is the second week of school already done? Crazy to think that I will have exam staring in week four. I, thankfully, am able to set some time aside to study for long periods of time without having to stay up super late. Last semester was rough because I didn't get off work until 6 or 7. This semester I was able to not have afternoon classes on Tuesdays and Thursday, so I am able to work during the day! This is such a relief because I am able to study and actually read textbooks and other assignments (like for this course) without the constant pressure to finish other homework with a time constraint.
The reading for Week 2 was short and sweet, which I think is a great way to ease students into reading. It is always nice to have professors that don't throw 60+ pages of reading on the first few weeks to their students. I enjoyed reading some of the Jatakas, as I didn't feel like reading them all. This will also give me the opportunity to use the unread Jatakas as an extra credit reading!
I enjoyed writing my Meowth v. Squirtle Pokémon story of The Turtle and The King. I just hope I am able to think of more ideas to retell the readings!
For my other courses, they don't require much writing. Molecular Biology, Immunology, Physiology of Microorganisms, and First Aid, are all test heavy and lots of information. I am also taking a Professional Development course that is taught by two professors in the MBIO department. For this course I am required to write a Personal Statement and create a resume. Honestly, I am terrified about the personal statement. I don't enjoy talking about myself and I also don't have any research or internships that I use to help bring attention to myself.
