Wikipedia Trail: From Antonie van Leeuwenhoek to Etiology

I started this Wikipedia adventure with Antonie van Leeuwenhoek who is the known as the Father of Microbiology, as he is the one who first discovered cells under a microscope. Van Leeuwenhoek began his interest in microscopes by making a stronger magnifying lens to see the quality of threads he used in his draper shop. He also suffered from a rare disease, which is named after him.

Antonie van Leeuwenhoek suffered from Myoclonus which is involuntary twitching of muscles. However, his symptoms were much more rare, as he had diaphragmatic flutter, which he first described that type of pain. As of today, only 50 people have been diagnosed with the same type of disease as van Leeuwenhoek.

This then lead me to read more about National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. The NINDS researches brain and nervous system disorders. Their research focuses on topics like genetics, motor control, and memory. NINDS also helps fund clinical research trials like Alzheimer's and Parkinson disease.

I finally finished on Etiology meaning, the reason of something. So for medical terms, it refers to how diseases are cause or how disorders are caused.
